Electrostatic Painters in Richmond
Settled in 1818 beside the Jock River, Richmond has a village core along McBean and Perth Streets still has older houses, churches and long-standing commercial buildings. On the edges, large new subdivisions have filled in fields over the last decade. That split shows up in the metal. In the old part of the village you see wrought-iron fences in front of churches and houses, steel double doors on halls, and painted railings that have been redone many times over. In the new neighbourhoods there are black aluminium railings, steel insulated front doors and garage doors, while the arena, the schools and the community buildings hold lockers, change room benches and steel service doors.
Old railings with many layers of paint need careful scraping so the new coat is not sitting on a loose foundation, and we test adhesion before committing to a full job. Newer builder finishes sometimes fail early because they were thin, which means sanding and priming before we recoat. Public buildings are easiest to schedule during school holidays or the quiet stretch between ice seasons, and we set that timing with whoever manages the building.
Getting to Richmond
Richmond is a straight run out Eagleson Road or Highway 416, and we bundle village jobs with work in Barrhaven and Kanata whenever possible.
Questions from Richmond
- Can a church's wrought-iron fence and steel doors be painted while services carry on?
- They can, with sensible timing. We work on weekdays, keep one entrance open and masked off, and plan around funerals or events you let us know about. Iron fences are painted in sections so the property never looks closed.
- Why is the paint flaking on the railings of our newer house, and can it be fixed?
- Factory and builder finishes are sometimes thin, or applied over metal that was not properly cleaned, and a few winters of salt and sun lift them. We sand away the loose coating, feather the edges, prime, and apply a fresh coat that bonds to the prepared surface. The fix is in the preparation more than the paint.
- Can arena change room benches and steel doors handle a new coat with all that moisture?
- Change rooms are damp and get hard use from skate blades and equipment bags, so we choose a tough coating and prep thoroughly. We plan the work for when the ice is out or the rooms are closed, and the space is ventilated during application and curing.
