Electrostatic Painters in Limoges
Limoges, in The Nation township along Highway 417, has grown from a small francophone village into a commuter community, and most of its homes are recent. That means insulated steel front doors, sectional garage doors, black or white aluminum railings on porches and decks, and mailbox posts, plus the steel doors, handrails and bike racks of the schools, church and community buildings in the village. Some commercial buildings near the highway add storefront frames, roll-up doors and steel service doors, and properties on the edges of town back onto the farmland and woods around Larose Forest.
Because the houses are fairly new, the typical Limoges request is not rust repair but a change of colour or a fix for factory finishes that have faded or been scuffed by shovels and snow blowers. Road salt is the other recurring issue: railings and door bottoms closest to the driveway collect salt residue all winter, and it has to be washed off completely before painting or it will work under the new coat. For a quick colour change on a front door, we mask the glass, hardware and weatherstripping tightly, then leave the door ajar to dry, so it does not stick to its seals.
Getting to Limoges
Limoges is right off Highway 417 east of the city, and we can combine visits there with jobs in Embrun, Casselman or the rest of The Nation.
Questions from Limoges
- Does road salt affect how long a new finish lasts on our railings?
- Salt is one of the main reasons exterior metal finishes fail early near driveways and steps. Before painting, we wash the metal thoroughly to remove the salt film, deal with any rust spots it has started, and prime bare steel. A sound finish then holds up much better, and rinsing the lower railings after winter helps it stay that way.
- Will repainting our new front door affect the manufacturer's warranty?
- That depends on the door maker, so it is worth reading the warranty terms before you decide. Many steel doors are sold factory-primed and are meant to be painted, while others ship with a factory finish and specific care instructions. If you send us the brand and model, we can talk through the right coating for it.
- How soon can we close and lock a door after it has been painted?
- The surface is usually dry to the touch fairly quickly in mild weather, but the paint stays soft for some time after that. We leave the door slightly open while it sets and suggest closing it gently, without pressing it hard against the weatherstripping, for the first while. Full hardness takes several days, so avoid taping or hanging anything on it during that period.
