Electrostatic Painters in Dunrobin
Dunrobin is spread over big wooded and open lots in West Carleton, between Dunrobin Road, Constance Bay and Shirley's Bay, and the metal on these properties reflects that country setting. Custom houses have wide steel garage doors, oversized insulated entry doors and aluminum railings wrapping long decks. Many lots also carry a detached workshop or pole barn with steel man doors, plus driveway gates, lamp posts and mailbox stands. Since a good part of the area was rebuilt after the 2018 tornado, a lot of that metal is relatively new, yet factory finishes on railings and doors can already be fading on the sunny side of the house.
Refinishing out here usually means working outdoors on a large footprint, so we stage the job carefully. Tall trees drop pollen in spring and seeds or leaves in fall, which can land in wet paint, so we clean the surface right before spraying and choose calm days. Newer aluminum railings need a thorough wash and a primer made for non-ferrous metal before colour goes on. On a long deck we tape off glass panels, composite boards and siding so the only thing that changes colour is the metal you asked us to paint.
Getting to Dunrobin
We reach Dunrobin by way of March Road or Dunrobin Road, and properties toward Constance Bay are part of the same trip. Larger exterior projects out there are booked for a stretch of dry weather.
Questions from Dunrobin
- Our house was rebuilt only a few years ago and the black railings are already chalky. Can they be refinished?
- In most cases they can. Chalking means the factory coating is breaking down under sunlight, and the powdery layer has to be washed and scrubbed off before anything new will bond. We then use a primer suited to aluminum and finish with an exterior enamel in the colour you choose.
- Our lot is heavily wooded. How do you keep needles, pollen and seeds out of the wet paint?
- We pick calm days, wipe the metal down immediately before spraying, and avoid the heaviest pollen days in late spring when we can. Paint applied electrostatically goes on in thin, even coats that set up fairly quickly, which shortens the window when debris can stick. Anything that does land is dealt with while we are still on site.
- Can the steel man door on our workshop be painted to match the house trim?
- Yes, as long as you have a sample or a known colour code for the trim we can match it. Shop doors often have dents, grease or rust along the bottom edge, so that part gets extra cleaning and priming. The door stays on its hinges and is usable again once the finish has dried.
