Electrostatic Painters in Gloucester
Gloucester takes in a large slice of Ottawa's east and south end, from the edges of Alta Vista through Elmvale Acres, Hunt Club, Blossom Park, Beacon Hill and Riverside South, and most of it was built between the 1950s and the 1990s. That age shows in the metal. Postwar bungalows and split-levels often still have their original wrought-iron step railings, steel side and basement doors, and aluminum storm doors. Homes from the 1980s and 1990s brought sectional steel garage doors in almond, brown or white that many owners now want to update. There are also low-rise apartment buildings with steel corridor and stairwell doors, plus neighbourhood plazas with storefront frames and loading doors.
Older railings here commonly rust where the posts are set into concrete steps, because salt and meltwater sit in that joint every winter. We clean those spots down to sound metal and prime them properly before the topcoat, and if a post has lost real thickness we point that out so it can be repaired before painting. In an apartment building, corridor doors are painted in place while residents are home, one door at a time, with the hallway ventilated and everyone given notice beforehand.
Getting to Gloucester
Gloucester is close to the middle of our service area, so neighbourhoods like Hunt Club, Elmvale Acres or Riverside South are a short drive whichever direction we are coming from.
Questions from Gloucester
- The bottom of our railing posts is rusting where they go into the concrete steps. Can that be fixed with paint?
- Paint can stop the rust from spreading if the steel underneath is still solid. We remove the scale and loose rust at the base, treat and prime the bare metal, and seal the joint area with the finish coat. If a post has rusted thin or is loose in the concrete, it needs a repair by a welder or mason first, and we will tell you that rather than paint over it.
- Can we change our 1980s almond garage door to a dark colour?
- In most cases, yes, a steel garage door can be repainted in a darker shade. Some door manufacturers caution that very dark colours on doors in full sun can cause heat-related bowing, so it is worth checking your door's guidance or choosing a slightly lighter dark tone. We clean and degrease the old finish thoroughly, since decades of grime can stop new paint from bonding.
- Our apartment building has a steel door on every unit. Do residents need to leave while you paint?
- No, residents can stay home. Each door is done in place on the corridor side, with the frame, peephole, numbers and hardware masked, and the resident simply avoids touching the outside of the door until it has dried. We send notice through the property manager so people know which day their floor is being done.
